Le parlement mauritanien a élu le Chef d’Etat-major retraité, le général de division Mohamed Ould Meguett à la présidence de l’Assemblée nationale.
L’élection organisée ce lundi, lors de la première séance du parlement tenue sous la présidence du député le plus âgé, en l’occurrence, le parlementaire Moussa Demba Sow.
137 sur 169 députés ont voté en faveur de leur collègue Ould Meguett, investi au perchoir par le parti Insaf au pouvoir et soutenu également par des parlementaires de la Majorité.
Son challenger mis en lice par les partis de l’opposition, en l’occurrence le député Ahmedou Ould M’Ballé a obtenu 27 votes.
Cette élection a été caractérisée par deux abstentions et 3 votes nuls.
Le nombre total de parlementaires est de 176 députés, rappelle-t-on.
